Athlete's Foot (Tinea Pedis)

What is it Athlete's Foot (Tinea Pedis)?

Athlete's foot is a common skin condition found in all sorts of different people caused by anthropophile fungi which occurs in the spaces between your toes and it easily spreads (contagious), you can get it if you come in contact with the affected area of the person who has it. The medical name for Athlete's foot is "Tinea Pedis" if its left untreated it can spread to other arts of the body such as face and hands.

 
Symptoms
  • Most Common case caused by fungus:
  • Red itchy rash
  • Scaly
  • Flaky
  • Burning sensation
  • Dry skin
  • Spread to other areas of the feet and body
Cause
  • Contracted through areas in which ones barefooted through community areas such as locker rooms, swimming pools, shower stools
  • One can also get in contact with the fungi at home reason for that is because the fungi likes warm, moist areas around the house
  • People who wear tight fitted footwear example athletes are a prime target for the fungi also if you don't dry your feet properly you can catch it and spread it.
  • It can spread through contact with the infected area of the person who has it
  • Indirectly through other means such as footwear, floors, and towels
Treatment
  • The Skin condition can be addressed with the Imperial Athletes Foot Solution
  • Breathable shoes will help cut down humidity
  • Change into a different pair of shoes regularly, giving your shoes time to dry out and breath
  • Towels, socks and bathroom rugs must be washed at least 60oC
  • Thoroughly dry your feet after washing, paying attention in between your toes.
  • Wear fresh socks on daily basis
  • Spray imperial anti fungal shoe spray to kill the fungus in your shoes and the use of our Akileine shoe spray will disinfect the foot wear
  • Use your own towels and wash them regular
  • Wear flip-flops when showering outdoors (sport clubs, swimming pools gyms etc.)
  • Try to give your feet as much air as possible
Prevention
In order to prevent you getting Athlete's Foot you need to practice good foot hygiene by doing the following:
  • Washing your feet on a daily basis especially between the toes
  • Dry your feet with a towel and apply talcum powder to help
  • Wear loose footwear this will prevent your feet from getting moist and sweaty
  • Wear socks after your feet are completely dry
  • Regular change of socks and keeping footwear disinfected with Deodorising & Disinfectant Shoe Spray
  • Do not borrow other people's shoes
  • Wash the following on a regular basis, Towels, bedding, socks, bathroom rugs at 60oC
